What to wear when you sweat

Posted by KOG on 20th Aug 2016

I knew a guy, let’s name him Brett, who ran a half marathon in a pair of Flannel boxer shorts. This was in San Diego, in the summer.

Flannel boxers. 13.1 miles. In the summer.

To say chafing occurred is an understatement. It took weeks to recover.

I bet he wished someone would’ve have told him which fabrics were best for his skin when running and which were better suited to sitting by a fireplace in January.

So let’s help you to not be like Brett!

When working out, fabrics close to the body (i.e. underwear) should be breathable and supportive. Breathable so that sweat evaporates, which is the whole reason sweating cools you down. And supportive so that things don’t flop around, causing chafing. Chafing is not just a product of rough fabric or poorly sewn seams against your skin; your skin can rub against itself and cause chafing.

So what underwear breathes and supports?

MUV: Our new MUV line stands up to the challenge of any athletic activity you throw at it. Made of Cotton and Elastane, it is soft, comfortable, and it breathes as well as supports:

And the top-front is mesh, so it’s like having an air conditioner in an important spot.

Cross Train: While the MUV line is ultra-breathable with its mesh front, we also offer the Cross Train Brief/Boxer Brief. It’s an excellent choice when burning through a gym class, or working in a temperate climate.

Don’t be like Brett. Take care of yourself while you sweat.
