History of Underwear

There is special exhibit happening now at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London called a Brief History of Underwear. It got us thinking… When DID underwear become the norm?

A quick Internet search tells us that underwear is almost as old as civilization itself: the ancient Egyptians wore loincloths, and the Romans (men and women both) wore either loincloths or shorts.

Men wore linen shorts during the Middle Ages. Until the 20^th century, nearly all underwear was made of linen or possibly wool, but with the advent of cotton blends and synthetic materials, there is a variety now depending on whether you’re going to the gym, to a meeting, or just watching tv.

We are guessing that if Prince Albert had underwear options such as our shaping Race Trunk, Queen Victoria would not have insisted on his infamous fashion trend…
